Julian Doan is a 2nd-gen Vietnamese-American “filmmaker”. He enjoys exploring the uncomfortable corners of our existence through absurdist, yet heartfelt “comedy”. He also enjoys “putting” random words “in” air quotes.

His latest short film Raspberry premiered at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival and was released on SHOWTIME in their compilation series Spotlights.

His 1st feature Half Sweet is currently in development and has been supported by The Gotham Project Market 2021. It is a “spiritual” successor to Raspberry.

He is also an editor and assistant editor, currently working on his dream project The Sympathizer for HBO & A24, from showrunner Park Chan-Wook. Other recent credits include HBO shows such as The Idol, In Treatment, Ballers; Gia Coppola's 2nd feature Mainstream; and Wild Wild Country on Netflix.

In addition to his professional accolades, he considers himself a pretty successful friend, partner, and family member. He looks forward to seeing a Vietnamese-American film renaissance in his “lifetime”.
